Research Events

International Training on Agricultural Innovation and Sustainability

The training strengthened participants’ knowledge of innovation, agricultural sustainability, and responsible management of production systems. It enabled participants to learn about technical approaches
applicable to the agricultural sector and food security. Furthermore, it contributed to the development of academic and professional skills aimed at improving productivity while adhering to criteria of
environmental and social sustainability.

CIT 2025 Sustainability Talk

The talk integrated the sustainability perspective into the International Congress on Science and Technology—CIT 2025. It helped raise awareness among the academic community about the importance of incorporating
environmental, social, and economic criteria into research. Furthermore, it strengthened the scientific debate on responsible innovation, knowledge transfer, and institutional commitment to
sustainable development.

Sustainable Food and Entrepreneurship Fair

The fair served as a platform to highlight food-related ventures and initiatives focused on sustainability, innovation, and responsible consumption. It helped strengthen the relationship between academia, the production sector, and the community, creating opportunities for the exchange of experiences. Additionally, it supported initiatives that promote responsible production practices, the local economy, and more
sustainable eating habits.

Outreach Events

Education Fair on Mobility, Road Safety, and University Outreach

The fair contributed to social and urban sustainability by promoting education on mobility, road safety, and university outreach with a community impact. It raised awareness among attendees about
responsible traffic practices, risk prevention, and civic coexistence. Furthermore, it strengthened the university’s commitment to safer, more inclusive, and more sustainable cities and communities. The
event focused on risk reduction, civic education, and responsible mobility. In this way, it linked academic knowledge with specific social needs oriented toward sustainable development.

Ecuador STEM Project

As part of International Girls in ICT Day on April 23, the Ministry of Telecommunications (Ecuador) organized an event that brought together more than 700 girls and adolescents, promoting their participation in science and technology as part of the national strategy to strengthen digital capabilities and foster technological inclusion. The CONCEPTS Innovation Ecosystem, through the Ecuador STEM Project of the Department of Energy and Mechanical Sciences at the University of the Armed Frces—ESPE, participated as an exhibitor, sharing experiences focused on hands-on learning, creativity, and the development of technological skills through a STEM approach and the
Maker culture. The challenge is not only for girls to use technology, but to understand it, create it, and lead in this field.

TECHNICAL ASSISTANCE TO ENHANCE THE VALUE OF THE PRODUCTS AND SERVICES THAT THE
METROPOLITAN AGENCY FOR COORDINATION AND COMMERCE (AMCC) OFFERS TO THE RESIDENTS OF THE
DMQ

Since November 2025, different careers of the University of the Armed Forces ESPE have fulfilled territory activities in the Sucre School, San Francisco municipal market, San Roque market, Chiriyacu shopping center; carrying out English language teaching activities, training of 2500 self-employed vendors who required to meet the prerequisite to obtain their Autonomous Merchants Card (PUCA), analysis for waste management and georeferencing of stalls of merchants on Loja Street, training in basic accounting, basic administration, sanitary handling of food, digital commerce and municipal regulations, improving the quality of life of the beneficiaries associated with the AMCC.

Health promotion and prevention of chronic non-communicable diseases (type II diabetes mellitus and essential arterial hypertension), aimed at older adults of the social mission of the decentralized government of the Rumiñahui canton

Within the framework of the project, blood pressure and capillary glycometry sessions were held for the elderly beneficiaries of the project, with the purpose of strengthening the prevention and timely monitoring of chronic non-communicable diseases such as high blood pressure and type II diabetes mellitus. In addition, educational talks, participatory workshops and informative activities were held. These activities made it possible to strengthen the link between the university and the community, promoting the comprehensive education of students and generating a positive impact on the beneficiary population through educational and preventive strategies based on health promotion.

Meliponiculture: a sustainable tool in agro- ecological systems for rural communities in Ecuador”

The Melipo-Training-Tools project is structured around three main axes: (1) the evaluation of the health of stingless bee colonies and their environment through the analysis of pesticide residues, (2) the development of a guide of good practices in meliponiculture that ranges from nest management to product marketing, and (3) the characterization of the microbiome of key species to improve the quality of products and the health of the colonies.

Among the expected results are the production of scientific articles, technical guides, dissemination materials and the implementation of face-to-face and virtual training. The project also fosters local capacity building, involving students, technicians and communities, and promoting the adoption of sustainable practices that improve productivity and market access, including fair trade approaches.

February 2025 – October 2026

Technical assistance for the promotion of entrepreneurship products, tourism dissemination and training of digital tools for the communities of the Sigchos canton of the province of Cotopaxi

The project made it possible to strengthen the digital promotion of the participating enterprises, support the tourism dissemination of the Sigchos canton and generate innovative technological solutions applied to the agricultural sector. Likewise, the activities carried out favored direct interaction between the university and the community, promoting the use of digital tools to support the economic and technological development of the beneficiary actors. The target population of the project is made up of 350 direct beneficiaries between men and women belonging to enterprises, associations and community entities of the Sigchos canton.
