- Mission
The Environmental Engineering Career of the University of the Armed Forces – ESPE, trains engineers in the field, scientific and technological under a framework of principles and values; and generates transferable knowledge to contribute to the progress of the country and the Armed Forces, through teaching, research and linkage with society.
- Vision
By 2023, it will be recognized nationally and internationally as the Environmental Engineering career of quality higher education in teaching, research and linkage under the paradigm of a smart university, articulating the transfer of science and technology of Environmental Engineering, through R+D+i processes; and, becoming a benchmark of thought in security and defense, at the service of the country and the Armed Forces.
- Program Objectives
- General objective
To train Environmental Engineers with values and principles, who analyze, diagnose and design comprehensive technological solutions for the prevention, mitigation, compensation and control of environmental problems, determining the ecological, social and economic impact, in order to prevent and control the deterioration of natural resources caused by industrial, economic or social projects, which contributes to the sustainable development of society
1. To knowledge
To base from a theoretical and scientific perspective, the necessary knowledge for the training of the automotive engineer, with a high academic level, through an updated, comprehensive and humanistic training.
2. Relevance
Develop creative, intellectual and personal capacity, which allow them to participate actively and consciously in the transformation of society, referring to the manufacture and assembly processes of automotive auto parts, maintenance management through innovation of energy use in the automotive sector.
3. To the learning
To provide cognitive capacities for the creation and reconstruction of knowledge in research and innovation contexts, under dynamic learning environments that interpret the problems of society, articulating inter- and transdisciplinary knowledge.
4. To the citizenry
Provide alternative solutions that allow the optimization of the transport of light, heavy, agricultural and river vehicles, guaranteeing their safety for society.

ESPE environmental engineers upon graduation from the career will have the skills to:
- Select, design, optimize and operate systems for the prevention and control of environmental pollution, clean technologies and alternative energies.
- Lead multidisciplinary groups with planning, management, communication and administrative capacity to solve environmental problems.
- Plan, execute, and control environmental programs in reference to security, defense, and others.
- Learning Outcomes
To support society with its knowledge in the area of Environmental Engineering, proposing measures to prevent, mitigate, control and remedy impacts on the environment, designing and adopting technologies that allow optimizing the use of available resources with a sustainable approach
Apply the basic principles of water, air and soil treatment methods for the design of systems and processes for the control of environmental pollution and the sustainable management of the territory with respect for the environment, social development, economic development and the rescue of ancestral knowledge with environmental safety criteria. framed in the current legal regulations.
Validate environmental models to determine the dispersion of pollutants and their effects on the environment.
Prepare Environmental Impact Studies (EIAs), in order to identify, evaluate and propose management plans in the execution of a project.
Formulate monitoring plans for environmental control.
Design and evaluate environmental research projects that generate social, environmental, and economic benefits for the solution of multidisciplinary problems.
Formulate and plan environmental management systems that are in accordance with quality and safety processes, which allow the Buen Vivir of the population and guarantee national territorial management with equity, leadership and entrepreneurship.
