The Automotive Engineering Career of the University of the Armed Forces – ESPE trains people in the automotive field committed to sustainable development and continuous improvement, capable of providing innovative and ethical solutions to the technical and environmental challenges faced by the automotive sector in Ecuador.

By 2030, the Automotive Engineering Career of the University of the Armed Forces – ESPE seeks to be recognized nationally and internationally as a leading institution in the training of automotive engineers committed to sustainable development and continuous improvement, capable of providing innovative and ethical solutions to the technical and environmental challenges faced by the automotive sector in Ecuador.
- Program Objectives
- General objective
To train enterprising and competent professionals in the analysis, design, construction, maintenance, management and implementation of automotive transport systems, with a quantifiable systemic approach that integrates the theoretical and practical components, which in turn seek to improve the quality of life and work of the community using transport systems.
1. To knowledge
To base from a theoretical and scientific perspective, the necessary knowledge for the training of the automotive engineer, with a high academic level, through an updated, comprehensive and humanistic training.
2. Relevance
Develop creative, intellectual and personal capacity, which allow them to participate actively and consciously in the transformation of society, referring to the manufacture and assembly processes of automotive auto parts, maintenance management through innovation of energy use in the automotive sector.
3. To the learning
To provide cognitive capacities for the creation and reconstruction of knowledge in research and innovation contexts, under dynamic learning environments that interpret the problems of society, articulating inter- and transdisciplinary knowledge.
4. To the citizenry
Provide alternative solutions that allow the optimization of the transport of light, heavy, agricultural and river vehicles, guaranteeing their safety for society.

- Professional Profile
The Automotive Engineer is a professional with a solid scientific, technical and humanistic training of a high level, with a social conscience, respectful of current legislation and the environment; Exercises leadership in the various contexts of personal and professional action, being able to develop efficiently and with high quality in the different fields of the automotive industry.
- Graduate Profile
The activities of an automotive engineer are framed in the productive contribution
of the automotive sector in the country, where they will be able to perform in the following functions and roles:
Functions:
- Generate and innovate automotive science and technology.
- Transfer and apply new technologies to the automotive sector.
- It generates and innovates energy processes applied to the automotive industry.
- Develops and handles raw materials in the manufacturing processes of the automotive industry.
- It designs the car’s components to optimize the vehicle’s aerodynamics.
- It designs and builds electrical, electronic, hydraulic, pneumatic circuits and mechanical systems for automobiles.
- Supervises and directs automotive service centers.
- Diagnose and control the vehicle processes in the workshop.
- Develop business plans for automotive components and systems.
- Manage logistics for automotive maintenance management.
- It undertakes and generates companies in the automotive area.
- Develops and evaluates environmental mitigation programs by mobile sources.

- Learning Outcomes
1. Integrates the basic scientific theoretical foundations applied in the automotive industry, through the identification, study, representation and analysis of substances and bodies, with critical and creative thinking in order to solve problems in the area.
2. It integrates the basic scientific theoretical foundations applied in the automotive industry, through the measurement of the mechanical, electrical, and electronic components of the automobile, to determine the appropriate operating parameters under operating conditions.
3. Creates and promotes national technology in the manufacture of automotive components and auto parts, complying with the change in the country's productive matrix.
4. Model and simulate vehicle structures under different operating conditions, to determine their validity, according to construction standards.
5. Interpret and solve problems of reality by applying research methods, scientific methods, technological tools and various sources of information in national and foreign languages, with honesty, responsibility, teamwork and respect for intellectual property.
6. Execute maintenance protocols under standards of quality and honesty, which demonstrate the ethics of the profession.
7. Promotes the culture of environmental conservation in professional and social practice.
8. Analyzes and discusses the behavior of mechanical elements in machines, considering technical aspects of manufacturing and control, under quality standards to adopt engineering criteria of automotive management.
9. Demonstrates in their professional actions universal values and typical of the profession, acting with emotional intelligence, creativity and entrepreneurship in the development of the sciences, arts, respect for cultural diversity and gender equity.
10. Demonstrates leadership qualities and entrepreneurial spirit for the management of business and social projects in the public and private sectors.
11. Relate calculation methods and procedures to determine the mechanical, thermodynamic, electronic and digital operation of the vehicle's systems, to check the work processes and technical characteristics.
