DEPARTMENT
Earth and Construction Sciences
- Areas of Knowledge
Environmental
Focuses on the study and management of water, soil, and air systems to prevent and control environmental impacts. It addresses natural resource management, quality assessment, and sustainable development, designing technical solutions that balance infrastructure development with environmental conservation.
Coodinator: Ing. Tania Crisanto Perrazo, MSc.
Geospatial Information Analysis
Focuses on the collection and modeling of spatial data using Geographic Information Systems (GIS) and remote sensing. Its objective is to generate strategic geoprocessing information to support decision-making in territorial, environmental, and infrastructure planning.
Coordinator: Eng. Eduardo Kirby, Mgtr.
Structures
Analyzes and designs the behavior of buildings and infrastructure under safety standards and seismic resilience criteria. It uses technological tools and advanced computational modeling to address the challenges of modern civil engineering in high seismic activity contexts.
Coodinator: Ing. Patricio Chicaiza, Mgtr.
Human Geography and Territorial Planning
Analyzes the relationship between society and space, addressing settlement patterns and land use. It proposes models for orderly and sustainable development that integrate social and economic aspects to guide public policies that improve community well-being.
Coordinator: Eng. Rodolfo Salazar, PhD.
Geomatics and Surveying
Specialized in the precise measurement and management of territory using geodetic techniques, GNSS, photogrammetry, and laser scanning. It provides reliable spatial data essential for the design, execution, and technical accuracy of engineering and construction projects.
Coodinator: Ing. Marco Luna, PhD.
Sanitary Engineering
Addresses the design and management of potable water, sewerage, and wastewater treatment systems. Its purpose is to protect public health and the environment through efficient solutions for the sustainable management of water resources in urban and rural areas.
Coordinator: Eng. Fernanda Mejía, MSc.
Roads and Highways
Focuses on the planning, design, and maintenance of road infrastructure, ensuring mobility and connectivity. It includes the study of pavements, geometric design, and traffic management to contribute to economic development through efficient transportation networks.
Coodinator: Ing. Byron Morales, Mgtr.
Projects and Construction
Trains students in the planning, management, and supervision of infrastructure works. It integrates competencies in blueprint interpretation, material behavior, and construction control, applying technical standards to ensure quality and efficiency in building projects.
Coordinator: Eng. Carlos Proaño, Mgtr.
Physical Geography and Ecology
Studies the natural components of the territory and their biological interactions. It integrates disciplines such as geomorphology, climatology, and hydrology under a systemic approach, enabling an understanding of ecosystem functioning and its relationship with human activity.
Coodinator: Ing. Rodolfo Salazar, PhD.
